Georgia Taylor Brown MBE Opens Fairfield's New MUGA Facilities

Yesterday marked the official opening of the Dr Joan Wilkinson MUGA (multi use games area) by Georgia Taylor Brown MBE, ex-Fairfield girl and Olympic Gold and Silver medal triathlete.

Dr Joan Wilkinson was a local GP and a committed member of the Fairfield Old Girls (FOGA) group and she bequeathed a sum of money to the school following her death. She wanted the pupils to benefit directly from her donation and we ensured that her wishes were carried out. A rose garden on school grounds has also been created in her memory.

Above: Mr Richard Nuttall (executor of Dr Joan Wilkinson’s estate), Mr Lingard (Chair of our Trust Board), Georgia Taylor Brown MBE and Year 10 pupils from Fairfield High School for Girls.

Georgia talked passionately to pupils about resilience and success; she expressed this as ‘’controlling the controllable’’. Mr Blackbourn, Georgia’s Form Tutor for five years also came outside to congratulate her. Year 10 pupils, accompanied by Mrs Loynd, were super and staged a football exhibition match on the MUGA.

Mr Richard Nuttall, executor of Dr Joan Wilkinson’s estate, Mr Lingard, Chair of our Trust Board, Mr Shackleton, Chair of the Building and Finance Committee and Mr Doyle, a Member, several members of the current FOGA and Georgia’s mum were all in attendance.
